The winery Hermann Dönnhoff from Oberhausen an der Nahe: A magic word for Riesling lovers around the world. The Mittlere Nahe is a particularly scenic valley between Bad Kreuznach and Schloßböckelheim and, with its magnificent steep slopes, has decisively shaped the excellent reputation of this renowned winegrowing region as a Riesling region. Gray clay shale alternates with occurring volcanic weathered soils of black-red porphyry and thus provides the conditions for producing powerful Riesling with racy fruit and mineral acid, which have long been among the great German wines. The winery Dönnhoff builds here on 25 hectares of vineyards, distributed to nine “Grand Cru locations”, which are among the highest rated of the entire area, mainly Riesling. The wines enjoy international recognition for their fine elegance and depth of taste. They are the perfect ambassadors of their very special terroir.
