Paris, 7th July 2016 Maria Grazia Chiuri leaves her role as Co-Creative director after 17 years with the brand and 8 in her role as Co-Creative Director to Pursue a new professional experience.
Valentino nominates Pierpaolo Piccioli sole Creative Director of the Maison.
The perception of contemporary that is nourished by the merging of different cultures, the capacity of an essence that succeeds in reading visual, artistic and literal inputs to rewrite them with a passionate and vibrant language, defined the stylistic approach of Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli.
Their method came from the fusion between passion and the emotions with which they sense the state of being contemporary.
In 1999 they were called by Valentino Garavani himself, who entrusted them with an original project: the task of creating a line of accessories able to interpret, from a modern perspective, the spirit of Couture of Valentino. The collection distinguishes itself for the perfect balance between tradition and innovation in full respect of the heritage of the Maison.
In September 2007, Valentino decides to leave the creative direction of his brand. Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli are first nominated Creative Directors of all accessories lines, and the following year, they are appointed Creative Directors of Valentino, guiding all collections, from Pret-a-porter to Haute Couture.
In June 2015 the Creative Directors have been bestowed with the prestigious CFDA International Award, recognition that has paid homage to the professional path and to the success that the Maison has reached in the years.
With Pierpaolo Piccioli’s creative direction the Maison Valentino undertakes a new direction, defined by the culture of contemporary times but still pertinent to the cultural movements that support and dialogue with fashion.
